Winter Crown land packing list

Packing for a winter crown land trip

We have been planning a winter trip crown land trip for our friends late this year or early next year. We have put together a kit list to help them prepare for the trip.
 
This is our kit list for a two night, three day hike into crown land with low profile signature. We are expecting temperatures between -12C to -20C but have prepared for up to -25C. We generally will be avoiding tents and fire and would be constructing a natural shelter.
 

Clothing

  • A warm hat or balaclava
  • Buff/face covering
  • Thermal base layers 
  • Softshell jacket and pants
  • PCU Level 6 Waterproof Jacket
  • PCU Level 7 top and bottom
  • PCU Level 3 Sweater
  • Wool socks x 4 pairs
  • Waterproof gloves for working
  • Extreme cold weather gloves for static
  • Waterproof gaiters
  • Winter hiking boots

Loadbearing Gear

  • 50L-80L rucksack

Shelter/Sleeping

  • Closed cell sleeping pad (may need to improve with natural materials if not bringing inflatable pad)
  • Inflatable sleeping pad 
  • Winter rated sleeping bag (may need to improve temperature in shelter if bag is not rated for actual temperature)
  • 200 feet of cordage for shelter building
  • Sil tarp or tarp
  • Light weight fleece gloves for use inside sleeping bag
  • Bivy bag

Personal Equipment

  • Fire kit (two combustion methods, two types of tinders)
  • small on person survival kit (redundant fire starting, small cutting tool, cordage, e-blanket, whistle, first aid, candle)
  • Sturdy sunglasses
  • Nalgene/Canteen (hard)
  • Collapsible bottle (soft)
  • Compass 
  • Map
  • Notepad
  • Headlamp
  • Knife
  • Folding saw
  • Insulated seat
  • Metal mug/Canteen cup
  • Small square of folded tin foil
  • Hygiene kit and toiletries 
  • Small pot
  • Large spoon
  • Assorted freezer rated ziplock bags
  • Waterproof bags for equipment
  • Snowshoes with sturdy bindings
  • Thermometer for note taking and observations

Signals

  • Cell phone
  • Signal mirror
  • Whistle
  • Charger and battery bank
  • Handheld radio, antenna and accessories
  • Extra batteries

Food and Water

  • 5 high calorie meals and lots of snacks
  • Water procurement re boiling

Nice to have

  • Booties / Overboots
  • Handwarmers

Team Equipment

  • Liquid fuel stove x 1 per two individuals
  • Fuel for stoves
  • Hand axe / Axe x 1 per three individuals
  • Snow shovel x 1 per three individuals
  • Extra tarp
  • GPS x 1 per two individuals
  • Pruning shears x 1 per three individuals
  • Assorted bungees for securing kit and sleds
  • Pulk Sled 50L-100L capacity x 1 per every three individuals.
